Arrested in non-fatal June 4 shooting at Tullahoma mall

A man in Franklin County, Tennessee, was arrested Tuesday by the US Marshals Service in connection with a June 4 non-fatal shooting in a shopping center in Tullahoma.

Hugh Adam Keckritz, 22, faces a charge of attempted homicide in the shooting that left another man with a serious abdominal injury, according to Tullahoma Police spokesman Winston Brooks.

“I am very pleased with the work of our Patrol and Investigation Divisions in Tullahoma and their partnership with the United States Marshals in bringing this fugitive to justice,” Chief Jason Williams said in a statement.

Keckritz was captured and detained in neighboring Franklin County, officials from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department said.

“After a brief and intensive investigation, law enforcement personnel were able to locate Keckritz and detain him in the Estill Springs area of Franklin County,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. of Franklin County. Chris Guess said in a press release. Keckritz was turned over to investigators from the Tullahoma Police Department, Guess said.

Tullahoma is approximately 15 miles north of Franklin County Jail in Winchester.

Northgate Mall in Tullahoma, on North Jackson Street, contains stores including a JC Penney, Big Lots and Harbor Freight Tools. It is close to several other commercial retailers in other buildings.

Chief Williams told the Tullahoma News in early June that the shooting was the result of a verbal altercation inside the mall that had turned violent. Williams said witnesses reported that a man produced a gun during the altercation and fired a shot, injuring one person. The gunman, later presumed to be Keckritz, fled in a white sedan, Williams said at the time.

A witness who was said to have been inside a store in the mall told the Tullahoma newspaper that the victim was seen running around the corner of an arcade in the mall, saying she was shot. Two people nearby assisted the victim until the police arrived.

The 20-year-old victim spent a lot of time in hospital after the shooting, but there was no word on his current condition, Brooks said on Wednesday.

It was not clear whether Keckritz had a lawyer, a bond set or a court date because Coffee County Jail had technology issues on Wednesday and the information was not immediately available, officials said. .
