BTS Wins Another UK Gold Album With ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’

Every Friday in the UK, a number of songs and albums earn further certifications from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the UK organization responsible for presenting the coveted awards. Last Friday (February 26) a new group of hit singles and beloved feature films collected their first plaques or progressed yet again as fans continue to buy and stream, and mentioned in this group is a group that could be called the greatest. in the world right now.

BTS is included in the latest round of winning titles and projects, which also includes names like Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, and many more. The South Korean vocal group is one of the few artists to see their album win a new award this week, and in doing so, they’ve made history in a different way.

Recent BTS Album Soul Card: 7 was officially announced gold in the UK, which is a rare feat for any South Korean act. In fact, to this day, the seven-member boy band remains the only export from their home country to see a full rise to gold status, and it’s something they’ve witnessed before.

Soul Card: 7 is BTS’s third gold album in the UK, like their previous efforts Soul Map: Persona and Love yourself: answer have also obtained this title. Love yourself: answer was the first album by a South Korean musical group to win gold in the UK, which happened last May. In the UK, albums are certified gold when they have moved at least 100,000 equivalent units between pure sales and streaming activity.

It was certified silver in the country for transferring 60,000 equivalent units in May 2020, just months after its fall.

So far, no other South Korean group has won a gold record in the UK. Pinkfong, a hybrid band / brand responsible for the viral “Baby Shark” earworm, saw their album The best of baby shark reached silver status last February and, at the moment, it looks like the most likely project of a South Korean name is moving to gold status.
