Maria Piedad Vigil Rivera (Betty)

Maria Piedad Vigil Rivera (Betty) of Roland, OK died on December 26, 2022. She was born on June 17, 1937 in Monta Vista, CA. Later, she met her husband Ignacio Rivera and moved to La Habra, California. She and Ignacio raised their children and were active members of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. They were entrepreneurs. Own various businesses including carpet and upholstery, bar business and real estate. Later she became librarian for the La Habra Public Library. They moved to Oklahoma in 1989 and she worked at the Sallisaw Public Library, then worked for six years at the Fort Smith Public Library before retiring. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy and reading. Maria was a member of St. Katari Catholic Church in Muldrow, OK. She was predeceased by her parents and husband Ignacio Rivera Sr.

Maria is survived by three daughters, Anna Marie Rivera-Bale of Broken Arrow, OK, Rose Marie Jordan and her husband Robert of Roland, OK and Teresa Galaviz and her husband David of Lake Forest, CA; five sons, Ignacio Rivera Jr of Roland OK, James Rivera of San Jacinto, CA, Michael Rivera and his wife Valerie of La Habra, CA, Mark Rivera and his wife Jennifer of Fort Smith, AR, Daniel Rivera of Fort Smith, AR; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at St. Kateri Catholic Church in Muldrow, OK. To express your condolences online, visit
