Firefighters remain in burning Arborfield apartments after building devastated by fire

Firefighters remained at the scene of an apartment fire in a Berkshire village overnight.

Emergency services were called to Millard Place, Arborfield shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon – people living in the area were urged to keep their doors and windows closed.

No one was reportedly injured in the blaze in the village of the Borough of Wokingham

A spokesperson for the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 2:19 pm on Thursday April 15th we received reports of a fire in a residential building in Millard Place, Reading.

“This incident is being reduced and crews will remain on the scene overnight. Continue to avoid the area.”

A spokesperson for the South Central Ambulance Service said: “All occupants of the apartments have been found (including a cat and a Labrador!).

“The fire team continue to fight the large blaze and we remain on standby to provide medical assistance to our colleagues at the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service if needed.”

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “Thames Valley Police are at the scene of a building fire in Millard Place, Aborfield.

“Closed roads have been put in place while the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service deals with the blaze. Please avoid the area and if you live nearby, close your windows and doors.”
