Upcoming programs at the Berkshire Botanical Garden

STOCKBRIDGE = Berkshire Botanical Garden presents “Music Mondays” with the Berkshire Big Band Monday, August 23, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring a picnic, blanket or lawn chairs, stroll the grounds, as the music drips from Lucy’s Topiary Garden, a collection of 21 sculptures ” alive ”encircling a performance area. Refreshments provided by Big Elm Brewing of Sheffield, MA will be available. Tickets for Musical Mondays cost $ 10 for BBG members and $ 15 for non-members. Advance reservations are suggested, visit berkshirebotanical.org. Mondays with music will take place rain or shine, but in case of bad weather the concerts will be canceled and refunds will be made. If the weather is questionable, please check the website, berkshirebotanical.org, or call 413 320-4794 for up to date information. Safety first: BBG is a COVID compliant facility. Please follow Massachusetts health regulations. Dogs / pets (other than service animals) are not permitted on the property or in the gardens. The Berkshire Botanical Garden is located at 5 West Stockbridge Road.

From Wednesday, September 1 and until September 15 the following Wednesdays, it is “September watercolor painting outdoors in the garden, at 1 pm. Explore the garden through watercolor with artist Ann Kremers. The class will work outdoors translating views and details of the garden into paintings. Each session will begin with a discussion of student work, a demonstration, and a helpful assignment. Beginners and experienced painters are welcome. The cost for this class is $ 75 for members and $ 100 for non-members. Additional information is available on the website www.berkshirebotanical.org.

Become a Master Gardener

NORTHAMPTON – Residents of Hampshire, Hampden, Franklin and Berkshire counties who are passionate about gardening, interested in learning eco-friendly gardening practices and sharing information with the public can apply now to join the 2022 Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Associations volunteer training program.

Whether you own a home, live in an apartment or condo, or work in a garden center or nursery, completing the WMMGA Master Gardener Training Program will give you a set of skills to help you gain a better understanding of the land, plants and insects around you. You will learn about botany, entomology, identification, propagation and care of plants. You will learn more about trees and shrubs and their importance for a diverse and healthy environment. You will learn about pollinators and their essential roles in the life cycles of other insects, birds, wildlife and plants.

The next 2022 Master Gardeners training class will be a new hybrid model of online and in-person training. This new model will make the training classroom more accessible to everyone – – wherever you live in Western Mass and whatever your work or retirement schedule. All you need is a desire to learn and volunteer, a computer, and an Internet connection. The conference part of the training program will take place in two sessions: from March to April 2022 and from September to October 2022.

The non-profit program is offered once every 2 years by the Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Association, an independent organization dedicated to the educational mission of promoting good sustainable gardening practices. It is open to everyone regardless of race, color, sex, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or national origin. The registration deadline is November 15th.
