Kean University is warning students if they fail to provide proof of vaccination they will be expelled.
The deadline to provide proof of immunization status is August 1. Officially, the university calls this an “unsubscription” from the class.
“If you do not submit the form before August 1, you will be unsubscribed from all courses you are currently registered to take in the fall, regardless of the status of your payment as of August 11,” says the site Kean’s Web.
It is not known whether the university will offer refunds to those who refuse to be vaccinated, but the school says the student seat will be vacated and open to other students.
Kean offers exemptions for religious and medical reasons, but like most schools, the number of exemptions that should be granted is low.
“It’s time for all of us to take action and do our part to protect our own health and the well-being of those around us by signing up for a COVID-19 vaccine. Register now.
Your decision to get vaccinated has a positive impact on the entire university community. As Kean Cougars, we must come together to bring back our vibrant campus life for fall 2021. ”- Kean University website
Some students questioned the vaccination mandate for them, while faculty and staff are not subject to the same demands. A spokeswoman for Kean told Patch.com that they “strongly encourage our teachers and staff to submit their immunization records,” but did not explain why this was not a requirement for the job.
