Once again, Justice Justice drops the hammer. A media statement from the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office reports that a guilty conviction has been obtained for the man who drove on a woman in 2018.
Alfredo Osorio, 27, of Pittsfield, pleaded guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily harm and leaving the scene of bodily harm.
On Monday, in an unsettled plea, Judge John Agostini sentenced Osorio to three to five years in state prison for the charges against him. The Commonwealth asked for three and a half to five years while the defense attorney asked the Berkshire County Reformatory for 18 months.
On September 4, 2018, Osorio argued with the victim while driving her to a house in Pecks Road. After getting out of the vehicle, Osorio ran over the victim and left the scene. The victim sustained significant injuries which necessitated a rescue flight to Albany Medical Center where she spent a week in intensive care and now continues to suffer from these injuries.
Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington appreciates the hard work of everyone involved. Harrington had this to say:
I thank the Pittsfield Police Department for their excellent work on these cases. These beliefs reflect our desire to empower those who commit acts of violence in our community. I especially want to thank the victim in the Osorio case for her incredible victim impact statement detailing how this incident changed her life. Victim Witness Statements are one of the most important rights of a victim or family member of crime, and our advocates work diligently to uphold this meaningful right.
